Supervisory Skills

A learning track for learning how to effectively manage work AND lead people.

There Is No Job that's More Difficult!

Supervisors, Leads, and Managers wear so many hats... And their jobs are often fraught with ambiguity, ever-changing
priorities, people problems, and unexpected emergencies every day.

What's more, over 80% of people promoted into these roles never receive training on the essential skills for managing
work: setting expectations, giving feedback, managing performance, delegating, motivating others, resolving conflict,
managing change, and the like.

But, wait, that's not all! The people reporting to these managers expect leadership from them... But many in these roles
don't even know the difference between managing and leading. They haven't been given that direction and they're not
measured on leadership, so it ends up on the back burner.

No wonder over half of newly promoted supervisors and managers fail. Courses in this track aim to change that by
equipping leads, supervisors and managers for the jobs they've been given.

Many of the topics you covered were properly grounded in science, several of your references I’d come across in my cognitive science studies during my bachelors. It was a true pleasure.

"I especially liked all the handouts and stuff that you can get sent to you to use at any time, and the sections on candor and feedback are probably going to be helpful in my regular life, too!"

Lead Research Analyst, Survey Platform
When I first got my new job as a supervisor, I was very overwhelmed. I learned a lot about being a supervisor and about becoming a leader, too. The idea of putting people first made me feel a lot better about the things I had to do.
